Here’s the last installment of my Whole 30 recipes, for now. 🙂 One of my most popular recipes so far is my Simple Turkey Chili. It’s so easy to throw together on a week night and so yummy too! When I was doing the Whole 30, I needed to come up with a chili recipe that didn’t have the beans in it but would still be hearty and filling. So I took my basic chili recipe, and gave it a make over with a few twists and I must say that I might like it even more! I LOVE sweet potatoes and that is an understatement. I love the sweet, savory, and even spiciness of this dish. If you need another recipe to add to your Whole 30 arsenal or just want a yummy chili recipe, give this a shot!
In a medium sized sauce pan or ceramic dutch oven (love mine), season and brown your lean ground turkey.
While the turkey is cooking, chop your onions, peppers, garlic, and jalapenos. Peel your sweet potatoes and then dice them into about 1/2 inch cubes. When the turkey is almost cooked through, add all your chopped veggies, except the potatoes, and spices. Saute it all together for 3-4 minutes until the spices and garlic become fragrant.
Add in your canned tomatoes, beef broth, and sweet potatoes. Bring it all to a boil, reduce the heat, cover pan and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
This chili is even better the second day or third, or up to a week, so I would suggest making a double batch and eating for left overs. 🙂 It’s delicious topped with fresh cilantro and avocado (and Greek yogurt if you aren’t doing Whole 30).
