These decadent bad boys have no oil, refined sugar (sweetened with honey), or butter! They are gluten free too! Look at all that chocolaty goodness….what more do I need to say? They are so moist and fudgey, I have to give some to my family, because I will eat the whole pan in 5 flat. It took me about 10 tries to get this recipe just right but I really like what I ended up with! If you need a chocolate fix, but are trying to stay on track and be good, these can definitely fit into your macros or you calories. The best part is that you get a big brownie! I get so let down when I’m reading a healthy brownie recipe and the serving size is 1/16th of an 8×8 pan. I mean who can only eat one little tiny square?? This recipe only makes you cut the brownies into 9 squares, and they are good and thick :). So if you have a couple of really ripe bananas sitting around that you don’t know what to do with, turn your oven on to 350 and let’s do this!
You will use 1 cup of rolled oats that have been ground up in your food processor. It doesn’t have to be powdery like flour, just ground pretty good. Honestly, if you don’t have a food processor, it would probably turn out fine just using them whole. Just a little different texture. But I like the grind them up so it looks like this:
Mix the oats, coco powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl and set aside.
In your mixer, add your mashed bananas, apple sauce, egg, honey, vanilla, and greek yogurt and mix it on medium until everything is very well mixed. Add in your chocolate oat mixture and mix until just combined. Add in chocolate chips and stir just to incorporate. You don’t want to over mix brownies! Pour into a greased (or parchment lined) 8×8 pan.
Bake @ 350 for about 45 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool and add a sprinkling of powdered sugar on top if you like. I like!

Does Yummly have the capability to share recipes to Facebook?
Thank you,

Hi there.
I really don’t know. Sorry, I’m still new to Yummly. 🙂
These were really gross! ?
I’m so sorry that you didn’t like them! I know that I had to play around alot with the baking times. They take quite a bit longer than a person would think…
I made these and I think they’re pretty good for no oil, flour, or sugar!! I’ve been eating clean for the past month and these are a great snack. If you still eat food with white sugar then you aren’t going to like them. But for someone like me, they are good! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for that comment! I agree with you. If you are expecting a traditional sugar and oil loaded boxed brownie, you will probably be disappointed (like my husband is :)). But for eating clean and needing a sweet treat, I think they are great! Thanks!
These aren’t dairy free. Greek yogurt is still dairy.
You are absolutely right! I’m so sorry, I have no idea why I wrote that! Thank you for catching that. I will make sure to fix that statement.
Trying these out tomorrow with my bananas! Thanks — been looking for a sugar-alternative brownie.
I have only made them once but they turned out wonderful and delicious! Very moist!
I’m so glad you liked them! And thanks for the feedback. 🙂
YUMMMMM these have seriously changed my life, i have tried so many of these “healthy” brownies but these are legit! I top them with chocolate PB2 and they are the most delightful afternoon snack, especially as I am on a cut for training. Thank you thank you thank you!
Oh Yay! That makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing that. 🙂
these are amazing with fresh raspberries 🙂 they also freeze really well so I tend to cut into brownie size and freeze straight away so I don’t eat them all at once!
Do you use regular or unsweetened applesauce?
I usually use unsweetened but either would work fine.
I want to try these for my son’s first birthday. Just want to confirm, C is for cup, t is for teaspoon and big T is tablespoon?
I dont want to mess the recipe.
Thanks
Oh Fun! I hope he likes it. 🙂 Yes you are right. 🙂
I am an avid baker, and usually shy away from healthy recipes because I love sweets! But these are DELICIOUS! The girls at work are always asking me to bring in healthy baked goods and this one doesn’t disappoint! Thank you so much for the recipe!
Oh Yay! I’m so glad that you like them. 🙂 Thanks!
Do you think I could omit the honey?
what can I substitute for honey?
any sweetner would work.
